Bone Grafting & Sinus Lifts (to support dental implants)

Bone Grafting

Tooth loss often leads to bone shrinkage. Grafting helps rebuild this bone to support dental implants. We use tailored materials—from small particle grafts to larger block grafts—sourced from your own body, donors, animals, or synthetic options. Each is chosen for safe, effective bone regeneration.

Sinus Lifts

When the upper back jaw lacks enough bone, a sinus lift creates space for implants. We offer two methods: Crestal Approach – for moderate bone loss, grafting is done through the implant site. Lateral Window – for greater loss, a small window is made in the sinus wall to place graft material. Your dentist will advise if this is needed after reviewing your scan.

Bone Grafting

Bone loss is a natural consequence of tooth loss. Its extent depends on factors like how the tooth was removed, how long it’s been missing, denture use, and individual healing patterns.

At Marden Dental, bone grafting may be recommended before or during implant placement to restore lost volume and ensure a stable foundation.

We use a variety of grafting materials tailored to the size and location of the defect. These include:

  • Small particle grafts for localised areas

  • Block grafts for larger defects

Graft materials can come from your own body, a human donor, animal sources, or be fully synthetic. All options are carefully chosen to support safe and predictable bone regeneration.

Sinus Lifts

A sinus lift (sinus augmentation) is needed when the bone in the upper back jaw is too shallow to support an implant.

At Marden Dental, we use two main techniques based on how much bone is present:

  • Crestal Approach: Suitable when moderate bone is available. The sinus floor is gently lifted through the implant site, and bone grafting is done in the same procedure.

  • Lateral Window Technique: Used when bone height is severely limited. A small window is created in the side of the sinus wall to place grafting material underneath the sinus membrane.

Your dentist will determine whether a sinus lift is necessary based on your scan and clinical assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before starting your dental implant journey.

Dental implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth. They allow you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence, and they also help prevent bone loss over time.

Most healthy adults are suitable candidates. If you’ve experienced bone loss, we may still be able to help with additional treatments. A consultation with our implant dentist will assess your suitability.

We focus on implant dentistry and carry out a high volume of treatments. This allows us to offer expert care at a more accessible price without compromising on quality.

Your Dental Implant Journey at Marden Dental

1. Assessment & Planning

Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation. We’ll explore all suitable treatment options and assess your oral health, bone levels, and overall suitability for implants. X-rays or a 3D scan may be taken if needed. You’ll then receive a personalised treatment plan outlining the steps, timings, and costs.

2. Implant Placement

Dental implants are placed during a straightforward surgical procedure carried out under sterile conditions. If additional bone support is required, bone grafting may be carried out at the same time or beforehand, depending on your needs. The procedure is precise, planned, and designed for minimal discomfort.

3. Healing & Integration

After placement, your implant will need time to integrate naturally with the bone — usually between 2 to 6 months. During this healing phase, you may be provided with a temporary tooth replacement such as a removable denture or a temporary fixed bridge, depending on your case.

4. Final Restoration

Once healing is complete, we’ll fit your final restoration. This could be a single crown, a bridge, or a full-arch solution, depending on your treatment plan. Every restoration is carefully designed to look natural, feel comfortable, and restore full function.
